COMMON USE
Shea Butter is praised for its emollient and protective qualities and is mostly used for skin care. It is frequently used as a natural skin moisturizer because it contains significant levels of unsaponifiable matter, Vitamin E, and other naturally occurring active ingredients. It leaves a finish that is smooth and satiny and penetrates deeply.
RECOMMENDED USAGE
Lotions & Creams: 2 – 20 %
Balms: 5 – 100 %
Bar Soaps: 5 – 20 %
Hair Conditioners: 1 – 10 %
When adding butter to creams and lotions, it might be necessary to gently warm them by the double boil method until the texture is soft enough to be incorporated into the final product. The melting point is around 32°C to 35°C. Create a vortex with your cream or lotion in a hand blender, then sprinkle in the melted butter to properly combine. The typical rule of thumb for adding in soaps is 1 tablespoon per pound. We strongly advise conducting small, lab-scale batches before beginning any commercial manufacture because outcomes can vary as they do with most basic materials.
Shea Butter may cause graininess in a product. If it is a natural occurrence, we recommend that the Shea Butter be tempered before use to achieve a smooth texture and consistency. Heat it until liquefied, mix thoroughly, allow to cool, and then store at cool temperatures.
