Natural Butter
Vegetable butters and oils are a combination of triglycerides of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids commonly extracted from various parts of plants, such as seeds, fruits, or plant seedlings. While vegetable oils are liquid at room temperature, butters, instead, usually have melting points around body temperature.
Oils and butters’ properties vary widely depending upon the individual percentages of fatty acids in each oil or butter composition and upon their unsaponifiable fraction, which contains components such as phytosterols, terpenes, and tocopherols.
Vegetable oils and butters are emollients and are widely used in cosmetics to treat a range of skin conditions as anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, and moisturizing agents, among many other properties. We recommend the use of cold-pressed and unrefined oils and butters for their superior quality. Once butter or oil is refined, it is stripped of its beneficial properties.
