Description
Beeswax is a natural wax produced by honey bees. Two versions of beeswax are available: an unrefined (yellow) or refined (bleached, white) version. Our beeswax is a yellow pellets, 100% natural, pure and organic. Easy to use. It can be use for DIY projects like candle making , skin care products, Lip Balm and soap making , and body care products. It has been used for centuries for skincare and candle products, as they do not contain toxic chemicals. It is one of the best skin-softening ingredients.
It acts as a thickener in the formulation when the consistency needs to be changed or when you need a higher melting point for the product, such as lip balms. Beeswax creates an occlusive layer on the skin, creating a barrier from the elements while also trapping moisture.

Product Details
INCI name: | Cera Alba |
Appearance: | The unrefined version is a beautiful golden color and will usually come in big chunks or pellets. The refined variety is white and comes in pellets. |
Texture: | It’s a firm wax that’s a wee bit tacky to the touch. |
Aroma: | Nothing too noticeable. |
Skin Transparency: | Beeswax on its own isn’t going to absorb into your skin as it melts far above body temperature. When added to concoctions, it will slow the absorbency speed. |
Approx. Melting Point: | It melts around 63°C/145°F, which is one of the higher melting points we work with in DIY skincare and cosmetics. |
The function in formulations: | We use it to thicken and harden our concoctions. In low concentrations, it thickens, in higher concentrations, it hardens and solidifies. It adds a lovely creaminess to concoctions that gives salves and balms great staying power on your skin. |
Weakness: | At higher concentrations, it makes projects really skiddy and sticky, so we generally don’t want to make beeswax more than 1/3 of a formula (though there are exceptions) |
Substitutions: | Two popular vegan alternatives to beeswax are candelilla wax and carnauba wax. |
Storage & Shelf Life: | Indefinite. Store in a cool, dark, and dry area. |
