Comfrey’s (Symphytum officinale) main pharmacological activity is to stimulate the tissue regeneration and its most important pharmacologically active ingredients are allantoin and rosmarinic acid. The parts of comfrey that are often used are the roots and the leaves. Ancient Greeks used comfrey to stop bleeding and also the treat wounds and help with broken bones.

It also has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-edematic and astringent effects and contains chlorogenic acid, caffeic acid as well as various vitamins and minerals. Allantoin is the component considered responsible for the regenerative properties of comfrey and also acts as a moisturising and keratolytic agent, with anti-irritant and protective effects on the skin. It is often used for eczema, slow healing sores, and even for varicose veins. Its high carbonhydrate content is said to help with skin rejuvenation.

FORMULATION GUIDE

Add it to shampoos, creams and balms, massage oils or even facial steams.
It can be added to the formulation for boosting up moisturizing function.
It can be direct applied on the skin as a toner or mist.
The extract is added to creams, lotions, foaming products (skin and hair), winter skincare, anti-ageing products, after sun products, rinse off, and oral care as part of the production process of your own cosmetics or by adding to the Aroma Origins range of Cosmetic bases.

APPLICAITONS

For external use only and can be used in a widely of face skin products.
Use in homemade skin care products or add to existing skin care products.
Not suitable for the ingredient in lip balm formation
